Day 19

 Day 19      Saturday  August 30

Warsaw to Tipperary

Breakfast again in the hotel and at 10am I was awaiting my taxi to the airport Warsaw Modlin.

Just about 45 mins for that transfer and I had plenty of time before check-in at this small but new airport.

Flight just after 2pm.. Landed in Dublin just after 4pm (A 3 hour flight but Warsaw is 1 hour ahead)

Cold and raining as we disembarked....left Warsaw at 25deg.

After re-assembling the bike I set out against a strong headwind for Heuston Station (12km)

Arrived there 20 mins before the Cork train due to leave.

Procured my ticket and safely stored the bike on the goods wagon. Plenty of space there but the train was packed (Trains only run every 2 hours on Sat; every hour on weekdays.)

Arrived safely in Limerick Junction just before 9pm.

Home.

Thank God for a lovely day and thank God for a safe return.

Day 18.

 Day 18.. Friday August 29

Warsaw

I availed of the breakfast in the hotel at 7:30 and then headed for the Metro. Purchased a 24 hour ticket and headed for Garazowa, 4 stops away on the Metro. I had been given the address of another bicycle shop which might provide me with a box. I arrived there before it opened at 10.

However it was just a repair shop but there was a small box and extra cardboard  available that could be assembled to accommodate my bike. I took it and headed back to the hotel.

Further searching gave me the address of a bike shop that sells new bikes. That looks more promising.

It was a 33 min journey on a bus with very little walking at either end. Veloart was full of new bikes (all impressive). My request was answered by 'Give me a minute and I'll see'. I waited hopefully with fingers crossed and then he returns with an exquisite box. I couldn't have been happier. Had an interesting chat about bikes and cycle touring.

I returned to the hotel  with my box neatly positioned on the bus and within an hour I had all packed up and ready to roll.

In the afternoon i just rested and strolled about the streets near the hotel.

For dinner I had a most glorious tenderloin steak done to perfection in a Capriccio restaurant on Nowy Swiat that was heaving with a typical Friday night crowd.

Thank God for a lovely day.
